First of all, I have to say that I truly did enjoy the delivery of the speech last night. Senator Obama did use his oratory skills to the highest order last night. The delivery kept me on the edge of my seat and I found myself engrossed in his words. But did I believe them? No!!
I found it odd that he talked about all the work he had done in the Windy City. Isn’t Chicago run by the Daley Dynasty? This bastion of liberal thought should not need any assistance from a community organizer and state senator. The programs of the Daley Dynasty should have fixed all the problems that the citizens of Chicago have. Shouldn’t these liberal policies have allowed everyone to pull themselves out of poverty, received at least a BA degree, and all have six figure jobs? I guess not!!!
Senator Obama (as well as Senator Biden) talked repeated how they pulled themselves up and out of the situations they were in with the assistance of their parents and hard work. That is the American way, but other than a mention about school loans and grants, there was not a mention of the government doing it for them. Does that mean that these senators are better than the average person? If so, then that would fall into the elitist category.
The final issue of the post will be the attacks on McCain in the speech. Senator Obama has repeated been unhappy about some of the ads placed by the McCain campaign and say that he will be limit his negative attacks. In my opinion, he stirred the pot quite a bit last night with his attacks. I wanted to hear more about what he wanted to do to help the average American and not who bad McCain is. I do hope that Senator McCain’s speech is not a direct attack on Senator Obama and more how he is better for America.
